With a cooling capacity of 32 watts, TM-127-1.4-4.0 is our least powerful single-stage thermoelectric module with a 40 x 40 mm footprint and intended for use with 12 to 15-volt DC power sources. This module is best used in applications where maximum coverage is desired but loads (or ΔT's) are not substantial. This is often an excellent choice if temperature stabilization near ambient is desired or if space for a hot-side heat-sink is limited.

TM 127-1.4-4.0 is commonly used in multi-module applications. Connecting the module in strings allows for coverage of a large surface area. The two choices for connecting multiple modules are, in parallel (same input voltage with increased current) or in series (input voltage increases but current is reduced). A combination of the two, consisting of multiple parallel "strings," of modules connected in series, is common for managing large surface areas. From a design perspective, longer strings are usually comprised of modules like TM 127-1.4-4.0, with low to moderate Qmax ratings. This is partly to limit the amount of heat ejected, but primarily because of the relative scarcity, and prices, for power supplies with high current ratings.

May be used for cooling, heating and temperature stabilization in a wide range of applications including refrigeration, consumer goods, medical, analytical, laboratory & scientific instruments, chillers, telecommunications, electro-optics, industrial and military. A version for thermal cycling is available.

Performance Curves

Thermoelectric module performance curves are graphical representations showing the relationships between power applied and net cooling for a specific TE module.

Performance curves are valuable tools for quickly determining if a TE module is a suitable COOLER for an application; learning what power is required for an appropriate module to reach the desired temperature and heat pumping capacity; and to provide the basic information necessary for proper assembly design.

Curves with Th = 27 °C indicate what to expect operating in ambient temperatures around 20 °C (70 °F) with an operational "hot-side" temperature or Th about 7 °C above ambient.

Curves with Th = 50 °C are for outdoor, box-in-box, and other applications with ambient temperatures in the 40-50 °C range.
